Animal Mani

Tigers!!!

8:50:00 PM

I never know what to paint on my nails when I sit down to do so.  It has become a process....what colors do I want to use, what "theme" do I want, do I want to go simple or difficult?  I find myself then sitting on pinterest or searching blogs or ideas.

Last night, I took to twitter asking what I should do.  Meg, from Let There be Lacquer tweeted back "teal shimmer :)"  While I loved the idea, I really really really wanted to use one of my new polishes.  I have so many that I have yet to try and I keep buying.  I vow right now to go on a no buy for a few weeks (let's see how long that lasts).  So after decided I wanted to use Zoya Lianne, came up with the idea to do a zebra.  Then while tweeting it out with Meg, I realized orange + zebra = tigers!

Colors Used:
  • Zoya Lianne - amazing orange base.  You can't tell from the picture and the black, but it's so pretty and shimmery.  Love it
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White - used for the little faces.  Bottom was applied with the actual brush, eyes created using a dotting tool.
  • Sinful Colors - Black on Black - Stripes, eyes, nose, and mouth.  The stripes/nose/mouth were applied using a tooth pick, and the eyes with a dotting too
  • New York Color - White Lights Glitter - can't tell from the picture, but it is applied over the stripes :)
Cute right???

Musical Notes

11:24:00 PM

I wish I could say that I came up with this manicure, but all credit goes to the lovely lady who runs the cutepolish YouTube channel.  Her designs are usually quick and easy, leaving you always with a cute little mani.  Inspired by this video, I took a whirl at the "Easy Music Nails".

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White - base coat
  • Sinful Colors - Black on Black - lines and music notes
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Strobe Light - the glitter top coat
I felt like the mani needed a little more, so that is why I added the Strobe Light glitter.  I was going to do New York Color's White Lights Glitter, but Strobe Light is so sparkly and reminded me of music, so I had to put it on.

Cute, quick, and fun.  Loved it.

Color Club Magnetic Polish

8:17:00 PM

I got a text from a friend today telling me that one of the beauty stores was having a sale on all Color Club nail polishes.  Of course, the nail polish addict that I am, I headed my way over to the store in hopes that the Magnetic Force collection would be on sale.  While it was not on sale, I played around with them a little bit and snapped this lovely cell phone image of the swatches.  I apologize in advance for the quality of the picture, but you can see the colors and magnetic lines which is all that matters.  One thing good about my phone, colors are always true to what they are in real life.

Colors from left to right:
  • Steel the Night
  • Cop An Attitude
  • Magnetic Force
  • Electro Midniht
  • Sci-Fi
  • HipNotic (my favorite)
I love Color Club polishes, and this was no exception to that.  I played around with the samples and they weren't too sheer and weren't too opaque, it was a perfect medium.  Just like any other magnetic polish, you put one coat on light, then a little thicker second and hold the magnet over to get the wavy look.  All the magnets are the same, so unlike the magnetic polish you can pick up at Icing, you're stuck with the one look.  Unlike Icing though, you can get a wider variety of colors.

Price at the store I was at was $9.95 for one bottle with the magnet included.  Definitely worth the price.

HipNotic is definitely my favorite, with Electro Midnight coming in a close second.  Cop an Attitude was a really nice orangish/bronze color which was different than any other magnetic polishes I've seen.

I'm calling it now, how Shatter was the go to easy mani of last year, magnetic polishes are going to be this years easy go-to mani.  In love.

Shatter

Simple Shatter

2:30:00 PM

Was lazy the other night and quickly slapped this on my nails.  Kind of upset that it's been 2 days and it has already started to wear off on the edges.

It is still mind boggling to me how shatter works.  You paint it on and it cracks and shatters without destroying the under coat.  Literally, mind boggling to me haha.

Colors Used;
  • Funky Fingers - Blue Foil - I'm not sure of the exact name but it is the exact blue as Color Club's Luminescent from the Foil Collection.
  • Funky Fingers - Pink Foil - Again, not sure of the exact name, but it is the exact pink as Color Club's Foil Me Once from the Foil Collection
  • OPI Black Shatter
  • New York Color - White Lights Glitter
  • Sally Hansen Top Coat
I think my top coat has seen a better day and that's why the edges have gone so fast.  Either way, it was still a simple and cute manicure that took about 10 minutes, so I'm not overly upset.

Attempt at the Mermaid Tail Look

11:48:00 PM

Some said it looked like a mermaid tail, others said it looked like fish scales, and others said it looked like dots.  Those who made fun of it and claimed it looked like nothing more than just dots were jokingly ignored by me for an hour at work.  Probably the longest I've ever gone without talking to three people was that hour.  An hour filled with giggling on my part and many numerous attempts to get me to talk from them.  These nails went from just a normal manicure to a story that my co-workers will probably bring up for the next few weeks.  It will be interesting to see if they'll do it again in the future with other manicures.

Please pardon my picture for being blurry, my camera is having difficulties, aka I haven't charged it and was being super impatient.

Originally, it looked like this with the middle finger a jelly purple, but that chipped after one day....

So I got frustrated because I find it nearly impossible to touch up a jelly polish and changed it to this...

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Love Nails - base blue - light blue dots
  • Sinful Colors - Daddy's Girl - amazing purple jelly polish - used for dots and middle finger
  • Sinful Colors - Midnight Blue - Dark Blue Dots (although you can't tell the difference between the purple and navy in these pics)
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Celeb City -Silver dots
  • Sinful Colors - Frenzy - the awesome purple glitter over the blue nails, which again you can't see well thanks to my crudtastic pictures.

So, it may or may not just look like random dots instead of fish scales or a mermaid tail, but either way I liked it...soemthing different.  I really wish the purple stayed on my nails for more than a day.

Any ideas how to easily touch up jelly polishes???

Until next time, have a great one :)

Blue Zebra Hearts

10:44:00 AM

Zebra striping is always my easy "go-to" manicure.  It's a simple design to apply with some patience and a toothpick.  I recently got this amazing blue color and I wanted to use it, but I was too lazy to think of some huge creative thing to do.  So, I came up with this, what I call my blue, zebra, heart manicure.

Polishes Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Love Nails - the amazing blue I used for the base and the heart on the ring finger
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White - for the background of the zebra
  • Sinful Colors - Black on Black - for the zebra stripes obviously
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Celeb City - used for the outline on the heart and between the zebra print/blue on the middle finger
  • New York Color - White Lights Glitter - used over the Sinful Colors Love Nails
This was one of those manicures where I could NOT stop looking at my nails.  I am now beyond obsessed with the blue color and can't wait to use it again!

Animal Mani

Oink Oink :)

8:51:00 PM

Who doesn't love little animals on their nails???  A few months ago I did penguins, and while on pinterest I came across cute giraffes, elephants, and monkeys.  So I thought, why not do little piggies??  This little piggie went to market, right?

The colors I used were:
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White (base coat)
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - VIP Pink (for the piggies heads, this is an adorable princess pink with silver glitter flecks)
  • Sinful Colors - Cream Pink (for the piggies noses and ears)
  • Sinful Colors - Black on Black (for the eyes and nose details)
The ring finger is Cream Pink with the white sinful colors dots.  If I do them again, I probably would skip doing the ring finger.

Hope you enjoy my piggies as much as I did! :)

Snowmen Nails

2:25:00 PM

These snowmen nails were probably the most intricate design I have done, but shockingly took me the least amount of time to do.  Both hands were completed in 45 minutes.

While I own a dotting tool, these were done without one.  I don't know, but I find it simpler to make my designs and lines with toothpicks.

For the base coat, I used a metallic blue from Funky Fingers.  Of course, the sticker has fallen off the bottom, so I can't tell you the exact color, but it's so pretty.  Funky Fingers is owned by Forsythe which is the maker of all Color Club nail polish.  The Funky Fingers blue is the exact same as Color Club's Lumin-Icecent from their Foiled Collection.

Next it was time for the detailing.  I painted the tips of my nails unevenly with white, to make it look like the snowmen were standing on a snowy surface.  Then, with a toothpick, I made a larger circle and a smaller circle on top with white for the body and head.  Once that dried, I took black polish and added the details of the arms, eyes, face, and buttons.  Since this was done before Christmas, I made alternating red (Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar) and green (Sinful Colors HD Nails) hats and scarves for the lil guys.

Quick Recap of Colors Used for all those in the TLDR crowd :
  • Funky Fingers - Some Blue Metallic which is identical to Color Clubs Lumin-Icecent - base
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White - snowmen
  • Sinful Colors - Black on Black - arms, faces, buttons
  • Sinful Colors - Sugar Sugar - red scarves and hats
  • Sinful Colors - HD Nails - green scarves and hats

Loved these guys.  Wish there was more snow on the ground because I'd do them again!

Valentine's Day

6:46:00 PM

I'm not one for Valentine's Day.  To me, it is nothing more than a Hallmark holiday.  In the beginning of February, I was going to be festive and do my nails in at least 4 different polish designs for this lovely day.  Instead, I ended up getting sick, and I was unable to paint my nails every three days like I typically do.  That's how everyone around me knew I was sick because my Facebook page wasn't being spammed with "What should I paint my nails?" or new pictures.

During my time being sick, I spent majority of my time on Pinterest and searching many other blogs for ideas.  Next thing I knew, I was feeling better and I only had a few days before Valentine's Day and way too many designs.  Since I still was not feeling too well, it was not my best work, but still I thought it was cute.

This is called Heart Doily's since they almost look like little doily's on your nail.

One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that I love Sinful Colors and my collection is overflowing with it. $1.99 for awesome colors, how could you go wrong??

I started off by painting my nails a purple base which was Sinful Colors Verbena.  Next, I took Sinful Colors Cream Pink and make the little half hearts on the ends of my nails.  After that I took a plain white and with a tooth pick outlined each of the hearts.  Then with my dotting tool I added the white dots and purple dots to the upper ones.  And viola!  My doily nails!

Happy Valentine's Day <3

My First Post :)

10:28:00 PM

Hi there!!! As this is my first ever blog post, I'm not sure who really is out there reading this.  Who knows, maybe I'll get a few followers by the end of this week!

It is clear that I have become addicted to painting my nails.  Over the last few months, I have gone from doing simple manicures, to more detailed nail art designs.  My nail polish collection of a few random bottles has significantly increased to numerous different colors.  It has become quite the little hobby that I am enjoying more and more each day.

It's amazes me how many people enjoy this hobby as well.  Some of the designs out there that have been created are so intricate and detailed.  I have been inspired by so many blogs that I decided to create my own.  My creations aren't always the neatest or most detailed, but they are my own and who knows, maybe I can inspire someone out there as well.

So, just as I have enjoyed so many out there, I hope that you will enjoy the creations I have created on the little canvas I call my nails.
