The One With the Dry Brush Watermelons Inspired by Ana's Manis

Good morning polished world!  How are you all doing today?  It's the second to last Wednesday of the month of August.  Where did the month go?  I really need to get my butt moving and share with you the rest of my summer manicures!  I just drafted up a bunch of posts, including a swatch and review of the new Serendipity Polishes!  On top of that I have some gorgeous Morgan Taylor's I need to share also.  So despite all my hard work of planning out my posts, I probably will move them around to get more swatches up!

Anywho, today I'm sharing with you a fun watermelon manicure I did last week.  This design was inspired by this dry brush watermelon design by Ana's Manis on Instagram.  I never would have thought to do such a unique watermelon manicure on my own.  It's just so neat!

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • China Glaze - Lip Smackin' Good
  • China Glaze - I'll Pink to That
  • China Glaze - Lime After Lime
  • China Glaze - Treble Maker
  • ORLY - White Tips
Oh my do I love this manicure.  I received so many compliments on it.  Everyone was amazed by the abstract watermelons!!!!  What I love about this manicure is that it is one of those that looks like it is super hard to accomplish, but in reality it takes about 30 minutes for both nails!

To get the look, I needed a white polish, a light pink and green, and a darker pink and green.  When my white base was dry,  My light pink is China Glaze Lip Smackin' Good and my light green is China Glaze Lime After Lime, which is pictured above.  Both polishes are from this years summer collection.  When my white base was dry, I used Lime After Lime and dry brushed half my nail.  On the other half of the nail, I dry brushed Lip Smackin Good.  Being that both polishes are China Glaze and neon, the pigmentation was perfect so I didn't have to dry brush my nail over and over again.  A few swipes and I had the effect I wanted.

When my first set of dry brush was completed, I grabbed my darker polishes.  For my dark green I used China Glaze Treble Maker, and my dark pink is China Glaze I'll Pink to That.  Treble Maker was from the summer collection last year, and I'll Pink to That is from this year's collection.  I went through with both and dry brushed over their lighter counter parts.  I didn't do much because I wanted the lighter to show through.  You can't really tell in the pictures, but all the nails you could clearly tell there was a difference in shades.

I then added a top coat before I went through with my dotting tool to add the "seeds".  I was going to try to paint traditional seeds, but I thought it would look more fun as dots.

What do you think?  Fun watermelon design?  Something you think you might re-create?

Until next time, <3.  (which will be soon because I have way too many posts to share with you!!!
