Hello there! I'm so happy to be back posting with the Twinsie's on this fine Tuesday morning! We have taken the month of December off to reorganize, recuperate, and enjoy the holiday season! When we decided on this little hiatus, we thought it would be a good idea to do a special December holiday post!
For our post today, we are sharing not one, but TWO manicures, one for Christmas and one for Hanukkah. I am a Christian who celebrates Christmas, so during this time of the year, my blog is overloaded with Christmas designs. I have never created a Hanukkah manicure, so doing one for Twinsie Tuesday was an awesome opportunity for me! I am rather excited to share a manicure which my Jewish followers could possibly use next year or for the last few nights!
Come on in to see the manicures! I'm hiding it from the main page because it's two posts in one and I'm sure it's going to be super wordy and long!
First, let's start off with the Christmas manicure! I decided to do a Rudolph which was inspired by The Nailasaurus! I wanted to do something different than the Rudolph's I've done in the past, and her's was completely different than what I have done before!
Let's take a look!
Colors Used:
- OPI - My Vampire is Buff
- INM - Northern Lights Gold Christmas Editoin
- Acrylic Paints
For my base, I started off with my favorite OPI nude, My Vampire is Buff. My bottle was running low, so I ran out to Sally Beauty and snagged another bottle last week. I'm so happy this polish is part of their core collection now. If only they would add My Boyfriend Scales Walls and life would be perfect. This polish applies evenly in two coats. I know some people say they have to use three, but I never have had to.
I did a top coat of INM Northern Lights in the Gold Christmas edition on top. The gold sparkle on top of My Vampire is Buff was just beyond gorgeous. I wish I could have photographed it. Just like the silver edition, the red and green glitters really sparkled. I love that these are part of my collection!
For the Rudolph, I actually didn't follow the tutorial Sam made on her page. I did it similarly to how I did my snowman and Santa which were inspired by a manicure by SimplyRins. In Rina's designs, she creates the outline of the design first, then fills in the color like it a coloring page. This is so much easier for me and leads to much cleaner lines.
Now onto the Hanukkah manicure. I seriously don't know how to spell Hanukkah and I'm relying heavily on the spell check to fix it. I apologize in advance if it is wrong anywhere in this post. For my design, I wasn't 100% sure what to do. I knew I was going to use blues and silvers, but I was unsure how to incorporate them. I think my nails are a little too small for menorahs, and I know I would have messed up the Star of David, so I sat and pondered what else I could do.
I grabbed a bunch of blues, some silver, and started working and came up with this little mani!
Colors Used:
- Zoya - Dream
- Orly - Mirrorball
- INM - Mystic Blue
- Sally Hansen - Blue Away
- Zoya - Sailor
- INM - Northern Lights
Okay, so, I kind of went with a weird sponging design on my accent nail, similar to a galaxy design. And honestly, I'm really loving the end result. I started off with a base of white polish, then sponged on a medium dark blue, then a light blue, then filled in the emptier spaces with the darkest blue. Then I went over it with silver and then INM Northern Lights to make it sparkle like Dream and Mirrorball.
Don't you just love Zoya Dream? Perfect blue for Hanukkah! Just the glittery jelly goodness!!! ahhh Perfection! Same goes for Orly Mirrorball. Just two coats of sparkly, holo silver goodness. It's by far one of my favorite purchases ever!
Seriously, look how gorgeous Mirroball is on my middle finger! Love! So sparkly and perfect for the holiday. Also, not going to lie, I loved doing a Hanukkah themed manicure because it gave me a little breather from Christmas manicures.
What do you think? Liking either of the manicures?
