The One With the Purple Floral Manicure

9:00:00 AM

Hey everyone!  Welcome to Tuesday.  You know, a whole week since I posted on the blog, yet again.  I had such great intentions last week to get on a normal blogging schedule, then it happened.  I fell Tuesday morning at work spraining my ankle and giving myself a mild concussion.  On top of that, the night before, I scratched my cornea while taking my contact out.  It was safe to say I was a hot mess.  The blog was the last thing on my mind.  I did end up taking a four day weekend to recover so I feel like I'm back and ready for action.  Maybe.  We shall see.

Today's manicure is a pretty purple floral design.  Honestly not too sure how I liked this manicure.  I imagined the florals looking a little different than they do.  Mainly that little peach flower is bothering me.  I feel like it should have been outlined in black like the other flower.

Oh well, let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • China Glaze - Let's Jam
  • NYC Color - NY Princess
  • Acrylics
I think I should have done two of the outlined flowers.  I should figure out how to paint my thumb nail because that one was my favorite.  Even the little pink/peach looking flower looked better.  It's because it's a larger canvas and there's more room to make things look better.  I feel that's kind of a lie but I'm telling myself it to make myself feel better.

I do love how Let's Jam paired with that purple jelly NY Princess.  I kind of like doing a different colored accent nail instead of just silver or gold.  Of course as I type this, I have a silver accent nail on.  Shocker, right?

What do you think?  Like this purple mani?

Until next time, <3.

The One With the OPI Blue Floral Manicure

Good morning polished world!  Happy Monday!  We are here beginning yet another work week.  Hopefully this week isn't as long as the last few have been.  I am looking forward to that looong weekend next weekend.  I hope that I can get my garden planted and ready to go because I feel like it's super late for me to start this year.  I also at some point this week need to get to the local garden nursery and buy flowers for the gardens at work, and you know, plant them all.  I do it for the residents.

Today's design is yet another floral manicure.  You're going to be seeing a LOT of florals over the next few posts.  I'm just hooked and I can't stop painting them.  Maybe I'll get sick of them one day, but right now I don't see that happening.  Especially after today's blue design.

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • OPI - My Pal Joey
  • OPI - Gelato On My Mind
Absolutely.in.love.  If you are a long time follower of my blog, then you all know how much I love My Pal Joey.  By far one of my favorite blue polishes which applies perfectly in two coats.  I think I have 3 bottles of this beauty.  I sadly only have one bottle of Gelato On My Mind.  Clearly I wasn't thinking when that polish was in stores.  It's one of my favorite light blue polishes, which is also the perfect base for those pink flowers!

I need to work a little bit on my leaf work, but overall I think I'm coming along with my floral designs.  I think I need to trim one of my nail art brushes to have a few less bristles so I can have a more precise little palm leaf thing.  I don't know what else to call that greenery other than palm leaf thing.

What do you think?  Fan of this look?  Love the blues as much as I do?

Until next time, <3.

Dot Mani

The One With the Yellow Flowers

Good morning polished world!  Happy Wednesday to you all!  Yesterday I painted my resident's nails and well, my heart was full.  It has been MONTHS since I spent that time with them chatting, painting, and laughing.  Sad to me that so many people just discard the elderly population; they have so much to share with the younger generation.  People are truly missing out!

Today's manicure is the one I wore to match my dress for an event for the Alzheimer's Association.  It was such a wonderful night which raised over $100,000.00 for Alzheimer's research.  This is a cause near and dear to my heart because in my professional career I have seen so many people destroyed by this disease.  Not only does it destroy the resident, but it destroys the families as well.  Words cannot describe how horribly sad this disease is.

It was a beautiful event though and so many came together for the wonderful cause. Families who've lost loved ones, caregivers, members of the Skilled Nursing World, and even seniors with Alzheimer's were in attendance.  While it is a horrible disease, it was a time to celebrate the progress made in battling it and raising more money to hopefully eradicate it.

Let's take a look at the manicure!

Colors Used:
  • Zoya - Dahlia
  • ORLY - Liquid Vinyl
  • ORLY - White Tips
  • Sally Hansen - yellows and greens
My dress was a gorgeous long white dress with black polka dots and yellow roses.  It wasn't a dress I'd typically go for because of the length and I feel that longer dresses typically make me look short and stumpy, but this one flowed so nicely.  I was so proud of the fact that my manicure matched the dress exactly.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't take a photo of the two of them together, but I was too busy eating all the good food that I forgot!

After doing this manicure, I want to do one with lemons soon.  I kept having a lemon vibe from my little flowers.  It is also a reminder for me to use more yellow!

What do you think?  Fan of the manicure?  Something you'd try?

Until next time, <3.

The One With the Pink Floral Manicure

Good morning polished world, and Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!  Especially my momma!  I apologize for being MIA again, but this week really truly did get away from me.  When I did sit down on my computer, I had no urge to edit my nail photos or even blog.  Not going to lie, I've gotten a lot of television watching done.  Hulu Live is my friend.  One bone I have to pick with Hulu - their version of She's The Man is totally edited and missing huge sections.  Not cool.

Today's manicure is a cute pink floral manicure I did with a mish mosh of pinks from my collection.  I have about 70 new polishes to use but I have nowhere to store them until I build my new Melmers (maybe I'll do that today), so I'm going through all my old collection and using some oldies but goodies.  You know, all those polishes which I have forgotten about since I have overflowing drawers and shelves.  Maybe I'll get to building my drawers today so I can use my newbies.

Let's take a look at the pink floral design!

Colors Used:

  • OPI - Suzi's Hungary Again
  • ORLY - Pink Noise
  • China Glaze - Merry Whatever.

ORLY Pink Noise - an oldie from the Spring 2018 Pastel City collection.  Literally have not used this one, so maybe it's a good thing that I haven't built my new drawers yet.  Two coats of this beauty and I had full coverage.  It is the PERFECT pink for an accent manicure to do some nail art over the top of.  I didn't expect myself to love this polish as much as I do.  I really need to use this one more often, or even for a summer pedicure color.  It's a pastel, but has a tinge of neon brightness.  It's just gorgeous.

Love the floral design that I did on top of it.  I've been on a floral kick, so the next few posts are all florals.  Hope you all don't mind.  I went through and edited all the photos yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the florals that I've done do not look alike.  What I like about this one is the combination of the rose and daisy.  The overlapping of designs just makes it pop.

What do you think?  Fan of this manicure?  Love the pinks?

Until next time, <3.  (Which hopefully won't be another week)

Monthly Mani Favs

The One With April's Monthly Mani Favs

9:00:00 AM

Long time no blog!  Hey there everyone!  I hope that you've all been well, and you all are still here reading this lovely little blog of mine.  I apologize for going MIA, but I have had a few really hectic weeks, and then on top of it an old friend of mine lost her battle with cancer.  It was a huge wake up call for me to slow down and enjoy each moment.  She had sent me a text a week before she passed away, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't slow down and catch up with her more than what I did.  It was a hard lesson learned, and I just needed a little break from everything, including the blog.

Here I am though, back at it.  I've been painting my nails and now just need to edit some photos.  I'm really into the florals again, which you will see soon.  First though, it's my Monthly Mani Favs for April.  I know that it is May 6th, but it would kill my OCD if I didn't post this little roundup post.

Let's take a look!

Clearly I had a thing for dots in April......goodness.....

  • The One With the Floppy Eared Easter Bunny -Is earred spelled with two R's or one like I have in the title?   I'm not sure, both are coming up as proper in the spell check.  I'm going to go with my gut and say it's spelled with one R.  This manicure is one of my favorite Easter designs. I have done a variation of it for years, but this year is my favorite switch up because of the outline of the little bunny.  Thank you to SRG.Nails on Instagram for the idea!
  • The One With the Pink Floral Spring Time Manicure - Pretty sure spring time is one word.  I'm failing all over the place with my post titles in the month of April.  One of my all time favorite floral designs.  You should see the floral designs I have coming up.  I'm really getting proud of myself with my pretty little florals.
  • The One With the Easter Manicure! - My favorite Easter manicure.  That Serendipity Polish blue with that cute little bunny bootie!  Another design inspired by SRG.Nails.  I'm not going to lie, I was super nervous to create this design because I have failed time and time again at that little bunny.  I kid you not, I've tried to do similar designs since I started this blog.  Finally, success!
  • The One With the China Glaze Dry Brush Manicure - Who can go wrong with a dry brush?  Especially when you use this color combination and mix it with a holographic?  Ugh, love it.
What do you think?  Which is your favorite?

Hope I will be posting more consistently this month!!! Ahhhh

Until next time, <3.
