September Nail Artist of the Month: Nails by Terran!

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has had a great week and has a fantastic weekend planned!  I can't believe how fast time flies, can you believe that it already is September?  Crazy how time has flown this year.  It literally feels like July was last week.

Maybe I feel that way because I actually contacted the September Nail Artist of the Month back in July to feature her here on The Little Canvas in August.  Unfortunately, the talented lady broke her wrist and was unable to paint her nails during that time.  No big deal though because I had my list of back ups and I moved Taylor up to August when she was scheduled on my little list for September.

Today I am happy to finally introduce you all to Terran from Nails by Terran!  A month has passed, her wrist has heeled, and she was able to create a post!  I discovered her on Instagram after she had liked one of my photos.  I instantly fell in love with her account and had to feature her!

Time to let Terran take over the blog!

How AWESOME that Terran makes her own 3D designs for her manicures?!  I think it's so unique!  I love how Terran stated that she likes creating unique manicures which anyone can do no matter how experienced.  As I have said numerous times, I believe there is a nail artist in all of us and we are all capable of creating amazing manicures.  I love that she wrote that!

Twinsie Tuesday: Summer to Fall Transition Polish

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend.  Now because I didn't work yesterday, today is going to feel like a Monday and it's going to throw off my entire week.  I love three day weekend, just not how they mess me up.  Oh well, at least that means four more days to the weekend!!

Since today is Tuesday, that means that it is time for Twinsie Tuesday!  Our prompt this week is Summer to Fall transition polish!  It was almost 90 degrees yesterday with high humidity, so it really does not feel like Fall is coming.  Now if this prompt were last week, it would have been perfect because it really felt like Fall was in the air!  Weather is funky around here, but what can you do, Fall is inevitable and I need to start transitioning my polishes.  I just laughed at that statement because I am one who wears neons in the dead of Winter and rarely transition.

Well, I did a manicure using OPI Eurso Euro, a blue which I think is a perfect Summer to Fall transition polish.  I paired it with OPI This Crown Needs a Gown and My Boyfriend Scales Walls because I thought these were also great transition polishes!

I cannot tell you how much I loved this manicure!  OPI Eurso Euro is one of my favorite blue polishes to date.  I am so happy that it is part of OPI's core collection and I can purchase another bottle whenever I want from Sally Beauty.  It applies perfectly in two coats.  Only downside to this polish is the odor.  Due to the blue pigments, it kind of smells a little skunk like.  It's nothing horrible, but it's noticeable.



I think the color, and the color combination in this manicure, is a perfect transition.  It's still bright, but at the same time dark...if that makes sense.  Funny since I'm pretty sure Eurso Euro was released last year as a Spring polish.  Regardless, I love it for this time of year.

Doodle Nail Art!

Good morning and happy Sunday everyone!  I honestly forgot to schedule a post for today and realized it at 12:30am after I got home from a friend's birthday party.  I debated on skipping it and just going to sleep, but then I realized I wouldn't have had a post up until Tuesday.  I couldn't let you lovelies go that long without nail art!

Today I am posting what could be called a back to school manicure.  Where I live, many of the colleges went back to school last week, and the elementary through high schools will return this week after Labor Day.  Even though I graduated college two years ago and am not taking classes this Fall, I still had to do something for the Back to School season!

For this years Back to School manicure, I decided to do notebook doodle nail art.  Don't lie, each and every one of us is guilty of drawing little doodles in the margins of their notebook paper when they should have been listening to the lectures.  The diamond "S" is an all time classic.  After years of seeing this design on numerous people's nails, I thought I should try them out!  

Enough babbling, let's take a look!




Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
  • Sinful Colors - Bright Lucite
  • Sally Hansen I <3 Nail Art - Hot Pink
  • Orly Instant Artist - Jet Black
To get the look, I started off with a base of white polish.  I feel like I've been jumping around from white polishes lately.  I've gone from FingerPaints to Cult Cosmetics, back to Sinful Colors.  Honestly, I was going to use the FingerPaints one until I found a brand new bottle of Snow Me White sitting in my Melmer.  Nothing better than finding a surprise brand new bottle of polish!


Anywho, after my base of white polish was on, I drew the blue lines on my nail, then the pink line down the edge for the margin.  You can check out my little tutorial I did last year here for them.  Rather simple, and probably would be easiest if you had a striper.  Sadly I do not own a blue striper so I had to use my nail art brush which took a little extra time and a steady hand.

For the pink line though, I had my Sally Hansen I <3 Nail Art striper in Hot Pink, which was sent to me for review.  I love these stripers....they have a shorter brush and are very easy to work with.  The name is a tad misleading though because as you can see it's a muted pink.  Perfect for the margin!


Some of the designs were inspired by Kelsie's Nail Files.  I am guilty at staring at her manicure while I did mine.  I loved what she did on her thumb as I have many notebooks with that little thunder/lightening design.

The Beauty Buffs: Texture Inspired

Happy Wednesday!  I'm here posting two days in a row, which means it's time for another post with The Beauty Buffs!  I cannot believe it's been two weeks already since our last postings.  I apologize to the lovely ladies in the group for not commenting on their amazing black and white posts (see the link up at the bottom!).  I loved each and every single one.  I feel awkward going back two weeks and commenting now.  Maybe I will, but still, I feel weird.  Life just got so busy!  I promise I will get better at commenting!  

Today our theme is texture inspired.  I'm a huge fan of my Zoya Pixie Dust polishes.  Personally, I love the original formula Pixie polishes.  Sure, the Magical Pixies are great, but there is just something about the sparkly fine texture of the original formula.

For today's manicure I had many different ideas running through my head.  I wasn't sure if I should do textured nail art like I did for these roses, or a cutout design like my Pixie Dust Stars, or if I should do something with tape like I did for my fun checkerboard Pixie design.  Then I thought though how awesome textured polishes look with creams, especially as an accent or framing the cream design.  

After purchasing China Glaze Capacity to See Beyond and after seeing this manicure, I decided to create what I call a framed accent manicure.  I call it that because I'm framing my nail art with plain nails, which accent the nail art quite nicely.  I tend to do this a lot with cream polishes that are topped with some Northern Lights.  Doing it with a Pixie Dust though added so much more contrast to the manicure which I fell in love with.

  • China Glaze - Capacity to See Beyond
  • Cult Cosmetics - El Porto
Isn't it gorgeous?  This has to be one of my all time favorite manicures.  As you know, I am a huge fan of blue, so this color combination was an automatic win in my book.  If I had to sit down tonight and pick my all time favorite cream polish, it would be Capacity to See Beyond.  It's the color I have searched years for and am so happy to finally own.  I need to go grab every possible bottle in existence.

Enough about the cream though, this post is all about the textures.  The original formula Pixies are great for nail art.  As you can see from my ring finger, and my thumb, I used a dotting tool and Liberty to create the flower and the dots.  I love creating dotticures using them.  If you have stayed away from purchasing polishes such as the Pixie dusts because you think that you cannot do nail art with them, click on that Pixie Dust tag at the bottom of this post.  They make nail art pop!



New photo set up.  I'm trying to hold bottles of the polishes I use instead of just my top coat.  Still trying to get a hang of it.  Cult Cosmetics bottles are rather easy due to their shape.  The China Glaze though are a whole different story.  That though is another post!
