Snowman Nail Art Inspired by SimplyRins

Good morning!  How are you all today?  We just had our first real snowfall of the season.  I consider it a real snowfall when there is 6 inches or more and I can shovel the driveway.  You may think I'm crazy, but I love shoveling the driveway.  It's such a great work out.  Sure it's cold, but after a bit of working on removing the snow, you start to get a little warm.

Well since we had snow, it was time to do a snowman manicure!  Let me tell you, this is my all time favorite manicure.  I am so proud of it and cannot believe how well it turned out.  I'm looking at the photos again now and I honestly cannot believe that these are my nails!!

This snowmen manicure (or accent nail in my case) is a recreation of the snowman parade manicure by Rina from Simply Rins.  I have been a huge fan of Rina's work for ages now, but never recreated any of her designs.  Hers are stunning, flawless, and perfect, and I didn't feel confident that I was going to do her designs justice.  Now that I got some acrylic paints and have been able to create neater looking manicures, I thought it was time to give one of her manicures a try, especially one that is so dang cute!

I took a deep breath and followed her tutorial!  Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • Zoya - Rebel
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Orly Instant Artist - White
Amazing, right?!  First before I get into what I did and how I did it, I'm going to talk about how awesome Zoya Rebel is.  This polish is part of Zoya's Awaken collection from last Spring.  It is a gorgeous shimmery blue which is great for Spring, but also great this time of year!  It's a perfect base for this snowy scene!  With two coats I had complete coverage.  Some shimmers you'll see brush strokes, but not with this one.

My snowflakes were done using the Orly Water Based Instant Artist in White.  I love these stripers because since they are water based, if you mess up and catch it quick enough, you can wipe off your design with a wet rag.  Similar to acrylic paints.  Plus the brush, despite it being long, doesn't go out of control like some stripers.

Below is the YouTube video that Rina created for this look for you to all see since I will probably confuse you if I explain how I did the snowmen in depth.  Trust me though, they are so easy to do!  The trick is to draw the outline of the snowman, then fill him in like he's in a coloring book!   Whenever I created designs that are intricate such as this, I start with my main design, then outline later.  When I go to outline, I mess up the whole design by making lines too thick or thin, and I get frustrated and take off the manicure.

I wish my nails were a weee bit longer so my hat could be higher like hers.  Isn't this awesome?!

What do you think?  Liking the look?  Something you try?

Well I am off to enjoy this chilly day.  I hope you all have a great Friday and weekend!

Until next time, <3.
