Orly Gumdrop Kitchen Sink Manicure
9:00:00 AM
Good morning and Happy 2014 polished world! How are you all today!? I hope you had an amazing New Year's Eve and Day! I laid low, painted my nails, and went to work the next day. Nothing too big.
For the first manicure of 2014, I am bringing you a kitchen sink manicure inspired by the kitchen sink master Young, Wild, and Polished. After seeing this amazing purple kitchen sink manicure that Nicole posted a few months ago on Instagram, I fell in love. I put it on my to do list and finally got around doing it a few months after originally seeing it. At the time I wasn't feeling purple, so I switched it up a little bit.
Let's take a look! White lightbox background = grumpy Alaina, but the nails looked most true to life with it.
Colors Used
- Orly - Gumdrop
- Orly - Liquid Vinyl
- Sinful Colors - Snow Me White
- Sally Hansen - Strobe Flash
Don't lie, you love it. Obviously, the biggest difference between mine and Nicole's manicure is the color. I decided to use Orly Gumdrop ( a dupe of China Glaze For Audrey) because I'm a sucker for this color combo. Actually, I really love any bright colors with black and white. How can you go wrong? Orly Gumdrop applied very nicely with two coats. I purchased this polish along with Frolic and a back up bottle of Liquid Vinyl back when Ulta had a buy two get one free sale. So happy it is part of my collection.
Other than the color difference, my ring finger was different than the original also. To me, it looks like she did a splatter nail, where as I used my new black and white matte glitter, Sally Hansen Strobe Flash. While I love black and white matte glitters, this one might not be my absolute favorite. I have been in love with my bottle of Hard Candy Black Tie Optional, but sadly it got super thick halfway through the bottle. When Strobe Flash came out, I snatched it up. Unlike Black Tie Optional, the application isn't as even. I had to place some of the glitters to get the look I wanted, which I never had to do with the other polish. It was easy though to grab the glitters, so it wasn't a huge issue.
Aren't they just so pretty. I really love the clouds on the pointer and pinkie and really need to start doing more cloud manicures. Maybe in the net few weeks I'll do a full cloud manicure. Hmmmm decisions decisions.
Oh, I also looove the thumb. Aren't those dots so neat?! I need to do more of those also!!!
What do you think? Liking the color combo? Have you tried a kitchen sink manicure yet?
Some neat little things are happening here at The Little Canvas! Due to one of the things (I don't want to spill the secret yet), my posting schedule might be changing with the new year! Instead of posting every 3 days, it might be 3 posts a week. We shall see! I'm still in the planning phases! Just wanted to give all you lovely followers a heads up!
Until next time, <3.
