Good morning Polished World!  How are you all doing today?  I cannot believe that I didn't post today's manicure on Thanksgiving like originally planned.  Reason being - I got caught up in the holiday prep and the holiday itself that I didn't have time to edit the photos.  And you'd think that since I took time off of work I would have time, but nope.  I actually have used most of that free time to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Anyways, today's manicure is a fall-themed pumpkin manicure perfect for Thanksgiving.  The manicure itself didn't last until Turkey day because due to the food prep, I chipped half the nails off.  Figures, right?  At least I just spent the day with my immediate family who don't look forward to seeing my nails.

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • Jessica Cosmetics - Mysterious Echoes
  • OPI - My Vampire Is Buff
  • NYC New York Color - Fashion Queen
Holy crap is Mysterious Echoes a gorgeous polish.  I used three coats because I really wanted the dark, fall, vampy look.  Depending on the lighting this polish can go from a deep plum with purple tones to dark red tones.  It truly is gorgeous.  Reminds me to use some of my vampy, darker colors more often.  You can use two coats but again, I wanted three.

Fashion Queen is the perfect coppery glitter which really accented this manicure well.  It was perfect for my little pumpkin.  It layered nicely with two coats on the middle finger, and then just one coat for the pumpkin.  The best part, it removed like a dream.  Love when you don't have to fight with a glitter polish!  I was surprised too because it had larger and smaller flecks in it.  Usually those are a pain to remove.

What do you think? Fan of this manicure?

Hope Everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Until next time, <3.

The One With the Thanksgiving Mani and INM Polishes

9:00:00 AM

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!  How are you all doing today?  I love Thanksgiving because let's face it, out of all the holidays the food is the best.  Especially come Friday when you have all the Thanksgiving leftovers.

This year, I didn't do a turkey manicure, instead I did a floral/Fall manicure inspired by Sensationails4U on Instagram.  As I mentioned the other day, I received a packaged from INM containing some of their new OTD nail polishes.  Two of them were perfect for this manicure.

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • INM OTD Lacquer - Acai
  • INM OTD Lacquer - Flapper
  • FingerPaints - Wrapped in Ribbon
  • Acrylics
Guys, I mastered the glitter gradient!  I am so proud of myself!  I have always shied away from doing glitter gradients because I've never been able to figure them out.  It's always too concentrated and it makes it look like half my nail is glitter and there is no smooth transition.  Maybe it's the wonderful FingerPaints Wrapped in Ribbon which made this possible, but it's just perfect.  I painted a little onto a make up sponge, dabbed it on a paper plate, then onto the nail.  It applied perfectly the first time and didn't even have to add extra!

I used Flapper in my leopard manicure I posted a few days ago.  Loved it as a nail art polish, and love it even more as a base.  Two coats and I had full coverage.  Just like my OTD top coat, this polish dried super fast.  No need to wait a long time before starting my nail art!

Acai is a gorgeous polish.  While it looks black, it is not.  It is a deep, gorgeous, red brown polish.  I'm assuming it's the color of an acai berry, but I've never had one so I can't really be 100% sure.  Two coats on this beauty as well.  I found this one to have more of a crelly formula instead of the cream like Flapper.  I absolutely adored this polish.  I just realized you can see the reflection of my tshirt in the bottle.  Oops, bad photo taking on my part!

What do you think?  Fan of this look?  Something you would try?

I hope that all my followers who celebrate Thanksgiving have an AMAZING day with family and friends.  Eat lots of turkey and prepare yourselves for Black Friday!!!

Until next time, <3.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Food....Kind of? Maybe?

9:00:00 AM

Good morning polished world!  How are you all doing today?  It's Tuesday which means it is time for another Twinsie Tuesday!  This week we are sharing manicures which are inspired by our favorite food.  I had zero ideas for today and almost thought about skipping because when I can't think of something it stresses me out, I get angry, and the manicures never turn out.  Plus, we all know that I wear my manicures for a few days.  So if I didn't like wearing a manicure for a few days I was not 100% happy with.  It just all around would have been a bad situation.

Then I realized Thanksgiving is Thursday and I started to think of all the different foods that are served.  Stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, and most importantly turkey.  Everyone loves Thanksgiving turkeys!  So I decided to do a turkey themed manicure.

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • Orly - White
  • Orly - Bling
  • Acrylics
I decided to re-create my pilgrim turkey from last year.  If you don't remember, click here to see my cute little turkeys from last year which were also for a Twinsie Tuesday post!  Literally it was a year ago.  Kind of funny how that happened.  Anyways, I only really wanted turkey accents instead of all 10 so I decided to figure something else out for the other nails.

Which of course I came up with using a very fun glitter, Orly Bling.  This polish came out as part of last years winter collection and I couldn't be happier that I own it.  It's so pretty and holo.  It needs to be released as part of their core collection like Mirrorball was.  Hmmm I wonder if they actually did.  I should take a look this weekend when I go to Sally.

What do you think?  Fan of this turkey?  Are you a fan of Thanksgiving turkey?

Can't wait to see what the other Twinsie's did!

Twinsie Tuesday: Mani Orders! - Thanksgiving Nail Art

9:00:00 AM

Good morning polished world!  How are you all today?!  Are you all ready for Thanksgiving!?  I know I am!  Last year I had the flu, was not able to leave my bed for more than 10 minutes, and I barely had any food.  It was so depressing.  I'll be babying myself for the next few days to ensure it does not happen again!

Today is Tuesday, which means it's time for yet another Twinsie Tuesday.  This week we are to take manicure orders from our significant others, family members, or bffs.  Well, instead of taking orders from one person, I went around to a few people and got a couple ideas.  I did this because I knew that if I only got one idea and it didn't work out, I would be too frustrated to try another and would be completely stumped.

Everyone I asked though said that since Thanksgiving was right around the corner, I should do some sort of crazy Thanksgiving manicure.  For the past two years, I did the same turkey design and really had no idea what else to do.  That was until I saw this adorable turkey design by Nail Storming.  It really looked like something I would do, so I knew it was meant to be.

Let's take a look!

Colors Used:
  • OPI - My Vampire is Buff
  • Zoya - Flynn
  • Various Acrylics

Cuteness overload.  I'm so happy with how these turned out!  I started off with a base coat of My Vampire is Buff.  When that was dry, I used Zoya Flynn to create the little turkey heads.  Flynn was from the Cashmere collection last Fall.  It's a rather pretty light brown shade which I think I could use a lot for more "nature" designs.  Maybe even a reindeer??

When my polishes were dried, I cheated and used my acrylic paints for all the details.  Guys, I don't know why I was so stubborn and refused to use acrylics for all these years.  My details are so much neater, the dry time is a lot faster, and all around I'm a happy girl.  It was just soooooooooo much easier!

I really am loving how adorable these are.  I am a little upset though that Flynn shrunk around the tips on my right hand.  That tends to happen a lot with my Zoyas.  Does anyone else have that problem?

What do you think?  Liking the little turkeys!?

Don't forget to check out the other Twinsies!

Happy Thanksgiving! Turkey Nails!

9:00:00 AM

Happy Wednesday all!!!  Hope you all are having a great day!  It's snowing here, which kind of makes me happy.

As many of you know, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so I of course had to have a festive manicure to help celebrate!!  I decided to re-create last year's Turkey Nail Art since it's the most Thanksgiving-y thing I could think to do.  Last year, I tried to follow Adventures in Acetone's tutorial, but failed.  This year I decided to try again, and guess what, I failed again!  After trying three different turkey looks, I found this tutorial by Heather from Peace, Love, and Polish and liked that turkey the best.

I'm not 100% happy with my re-creation, but it's better than having no holiday nails.  I'm also not 100% happy with my photos.  My light box would NOT participate with me, so I opted for the white background which turned into a dingy gray with the lighting.  Maybe on Black Friday I'll go out and purchase another desk lamp.

Colors Used:
  • Gold Nails
    • Sally Hansen - Golden-I
    • China Glaze - Glitter Goblin
  • Turkeys
    • Sinful Colors - Nirvana, Snow Me White
    • Zoya - Arizona, Thandie, Darcy
    • Orly - Liquid Vinyl
Okay, they're kind of cute.  You would think that painting a turkey would be rather easy, but honestly it is one of the hardest designs I've done.  I just couldn't get the little guy to look just right or fit perfectly with all the dang feathers.  Maybe if my nails were longer?  I would say I'll try again next year, but honestly, I think I'm forever crossing turkeys off my list of nail art I must do!

To get my turkeys, I followed Heather's tutorial.  I first drew my turkey's body and filled it in with my nail art brush.  When it was dried I took my yellow polish and drew the random feathers around the little guy.  I did the same with the orange, then lastly the red.  I then added the details of the turkey's little face.

What do you think?  Liking these turkeys?  Having just as much difficulty with turkey nail art as I have?

I hope all my followers who are celebrating Thanksgiving have a very blessed holiday with their families and friends.  I am so thankful for all of you who have supported me and my blogging adventures.  I know that sometimes I stink at responding to blog or Instagram comments, but I read every last one of them and they put the biggest smile on my face.  I never in a million years thought that this little hobby would turn into what The Little Canvas has become, and for that I am thankful.  Despite the frustrations and disasticures, this blog has truly been a blessing!  So again, thank you all for your support and kind words!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!  Until next time, <3.

PolishPals Thanksgiving Pumpkin Nail Art

9:00:00 AM

Happy Sunday Polished World!!!  How are you all today?  As long as I'm sitting in front of a heater today, I'll be great!  It got really chilly here this weekend and we just got our first little accumulation of snow.  I love the snow, just hate the cold.  If only there was a way to have snow in 75 degree weather.....

Today's nails were not planned at all.  I originally sat down to do a manicure for Catching Fire, but the odds were not in my favor and I had three disasticures.  I decided to abandon the Catching Fire theme and move into a Thanksgiving theme!

I remembered this adorable manicure by PolishPals that I wanted to create back in October, but got delayed with all my Halloween manicures.  I'm happy I delayed in re-creating Jenna's manicure because she created this little tutorial!

I am happy my Catching Fire manicure failed....let's take a look at my cute little pumpkins!

Colors Used:
  • Base
    • Zoya - Avery
  • Pumpkins
    • Maybelline - Sweet Clementine
    • Sinful Colors - Nirvana
    • Zoya - Josie
    • Orly - Liquid Vinyl
Cute, right?  I can't tell you how much I love these little pumpkins!!!  To me, they look like little cartoons.

To get the look, I followed the tutorial I linked above.  First, I started with my base coat of Avery.  Then I took my orange polish and created the pumpkins on my nails.  With my nail art brush, I added the brown stem, then started outlining my pumpkins with my black polish.  When the black was dried, I went through and added the green leaf and outlined that with more black.

After one day, my base shrunk and my little pumpkins were pulling back from the tips of my nails.  I tried to touch them up it didn't go so well.  Since I loved the pumpkins so much though, I decide to re-do them without a base color, and that's currently what I'm wearing.  I'll probably snap a shot of that version with my iPhone sometime this week and share it on Instagram as a comparison.  Personally, I'm liking both versions the same.

What do you think?  Liking the little pumpkins?

Until next time, <3.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Turkey Nail Art

10:30:00 AM

Gobble, Gobble!  Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!  How are you all going to spend your days??  I will be with my family eating stuffing, stuffing, and well more stuffing.  I'm not one for turkey, in fact, our family will be eating chicken.  For me, it's all about the sides....you know, the millions of carbs haha.  Oh, and of course, the pumpkin pie....how could I forget that??  Since it is the holiday, I had to give myself a festive manicure!

When I sat down, I knew what I wanted to do.  As I am a sucker for a cute animal manicure, I decided I was going to paint little turkeys on my nails!  I started searching Google for ideas and inspiration as to how to actually paint the little guys on my nails.  I first found this manicure from the tumblr Wah-Nails which is seriously amazing.  It was just so cute that I couldn't even handle it.  It was too much though for lil old me to do, and I know there would be NO WAY I could get my nails to look that cute.  I went back to searching and found another idea.  I originally copied a tutorial I saw on Adventures in Acetone, but it turned out awful on my nails.  I didn't angle the feathers enough  and I made my turkeys too big...it was just awful.  So, with one disasticure behind me, I wasn't going to give up....I went in a different direction.

Here's how they came out....

Colors Used:

  • Base
    • Sally Hansen - Golden-I
  • Glitter
    • China Glaze - Glitter Goblin
  • Turkeys
    • Sinful Colors - Nirvana
    • Sinful Colors - Sugar, Sugar
    • Zoya - Lianne
    • Ulta - Sun Sational
    • Ulta - Chocolate Kiss
    • Sinful Colors - Snow Me White and Black on Black
Oh, how I love my little turkeys!!!  Best part, they were super easy!!!!  With my nail art brush, I painted on the little bodies using Nirvana.  When they were dried, with my brushes and the feather colors, I detailed on the feathers around each of their bodies.  Since the feathers bled a little onto the bodies, I outlined the turkeys in Chocolate Kiss.  Not only did it cover up the messiness, but it made the bodies pop away from the background.  With my dotting tool, I added some googly eyes, followed by a beak with my brush, and they were done!

Originally, I was going to put turkeys on all my nails, but I thought it would be too much.  Since I seem to be purchasing more and more glitters, I figured I need to start using them, despite my fact I hate removing them. I grabbed Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice, a dupe of Electrify by China Glaze, and painted it no my pointer nail.  Oh boy, it was awful.  Totally did not give my nails a Fall feel like I wanted.  It looked more Christmas-y with the red and gold glitter on the gold backed nail.  I then remembered my bottle of Glitter Goblin.  This is seriously the perfect Fall glitter.  It has bronze/brown glitter flecks mixed with holo pieces.  It's really quite pretty, and in many cases not something I would typically go for.  I bought it from Sally's on impulse due to the holo and definitely didn't think I would like it as much as I have.  Seriously, look at the glitter-y goodness in the blurry pic below.

Pretty, pretty, and really the pictures above kind of darken the glitter more than what it is.  I'm very happy I used it for this manicure, and with I used it more during the Fall months.  I still have some time...right?

What do you think of my lil guys?  Love them, hate them??  What about Glitter Goblin...what are your feelings?? Did you do a Thanksgiving mani?? I'd love to see so you should head on over to my Twitter or Facebook and share them!!! I would love to see!

To everyone out there reading this, I hope you have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends   Be safe and have a splendid day.  For those of you not celebrating today, just have a fantabulous day! <3
