Birthday Cupcake Nail Art!

Hello polished world! How are you today? I'm happy for two reasons. One, it's Friday, and two, it's my birthday weekend!!! Now, I'm not a huge birthday person. As I've gotten older, they just seem like another day. I'm perfectly content to go out, get some ice cream, and be home by 10pm and in bed by 11pm. I swear, I'm still in my 20s and not my 80s.

Even though I'm not a very boring when it comes to my birthday, I don't pass up the opportunity to paint my nails for the occasion. For the last two years, I did cute little cupcake nails, and since I'm a creature of habit this year is no different. I did switch it up though, and instead of doing a cupcake accent, I decided to paint all ten of my nails with the same design!

Since I couldn't pick a single color to be the wrapper, I decided to skittle my nails and do a bunch of different colored ones! Let's take a look!

Whew, lots of polishes! Although when I was doing the look, it honestly didn't feel like it! To get the look, I started off doing a normal clear base coat on all my nails. Then I took the lighter of the two colors and painted the lower half of my nail. For each color I did this twice to make sure the color was really opaque. Once they were dried, I took a nail art brush and the darker color and painted 5 lines down each of the nail.

Then comes the fun part, the frosting top! I used a dotting tool and some white polish and along the colored edge I added dots across the nail. Then with my nail art striper, I created the rounded tops then filled in each one. I then dabbed on the Sinful Colors glitter for the sprinkles, then added a dot for the cherries! Added a top coat and admired my work!

Amazon Green sadly bled a little through the white on the ring finger, but what can you do. It's not too visible in the photos which is a good thing. I'm sure if I never mentioned it no one would know. I'm super happy that I used the glitter for the sprinkles. I love how they look.

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Holo Polish

Good morning Polished Peeps! How are you all today? We've been getting a lot of rain lately, but hopefully today it will end....hopefully? I enjoyed the first few days of rain, until I realized it's August now and we barely have had a summer. Goodness hopefully it gets summery before September, or just preferably for my birthday weekend :)

Today is Tuesday, so that means it is time for another Twinsie Tuesday! We are all sharing our favorite holo polishes today. You know, those amazing holographic nail polishes which everyone drools over. I'm very sad since I own so very few holos, but they get me by and I keep them for special occasions or really fun summer pedis. Seriously, holo toes = amazing.

For this post, I knew that I wanted to use INM Northern Lights, my favorite holo glitter top coat, alongside one of my beloved Color Club Halo Hues. I asked few of my friends if I should do purple or blue, and more came back telling me purple, so I grabbed Eternal Beauty and got to work!

Let's take a look. Sadly I do not know how to properly photograph holos so my pictures aren't as amazing as I would like.

Colors Used:

INM - Brighella
INM - Northern Lights
Color Club - Eternal Beauty

Purple overload! For my cream, I picked INM Brighella because it looked amazing next to the bottle of Eternal Beauty. Brighella is an amazing polish which applies evenly in two coats. Topped with INM Northern Lights in Silver, Brighella looks like a whole new polish. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it looked in person!

Eternal Beauty is just a gorgeous purple holo polish. I fall in love with it all over again each time I use it. Two coats and you have perfect coverage. If you want, you could use three, but I think it would be a waste. Color Club hit a home run with these Halo Hues. Every single one is perfect!

For my accent nail, I created a funky tape design which I saw awhile ago on Pinterest and put in the memory banks. I didn't pin it so I have no idea who originally created the look. I love how the contrast between the cream and holo polish on that accent. I'm so happy I decided to do a tape design.

Nail Artist of the Month

August Nail Artist of the Month: Taylor T Nails!

Good morning polished world! Happy August! Since this is the first nail art post of the month, you know what that means! That's right, it's time to introduce you to another Nail Artist of the Month! I had such a difficult time picking an artist this month because there are just so many amazing girls!

I'm very pleased today to introduce you to Taylor of Taylor T Nails (or Nails by Taylor T on Facebook). I found her Instagram after a tutorial of hers was posted on one of the many nail feature accounts I follow. I couldn't get over how amazingly detailed her work was and had to reach out to her for the feature.

Enough of my babbling, time to let Taylor take over the blog!

"Hey Little Canvas readers! I'm Taylor, a college student (proud Texas Aggie) who has been doing nail art and hardcore nail polish hoarding for the past two years. I am so excited to be August's NAOTM!

To tell you a bit about my history with nail art, it all began in Summer 2012 when I had tons of free time and a liking for nail polish. I started out with YouTube tutorials and Pinterest inspiration and went from there. The following summer I created my Instagram account and the rest is history! I now do nail art out of my apartment as a side business and am very active on Instagram. As for my style and influences, I get inspiration from anywhere, whether it's a colorful building, a random home decor item, or a printed dress. My style is very wide ranging and I try to keep it diverse by constantly switching up color combos and techniques.

For this mani, I took inspiration from 1960s pop art. I've always loved Andy Warhol's work and it was a lot of fun trying to recreate it on my nails! I used nail polish (mostly random ones I've found during my current vacation in Paraguay) only for the background of each nail; the rest is all acrylic paint!
