Glitter Nail Polish Remover Gel Review

Good morning polished world!  How are you all today?  I'm exhausted and the weather is freezing.  I need a vacation to a warm beach!  Alas, that's not happening, so I will sit around some neon polishes and pretend that it is summer time.

Today I'm bringing you a review of a new nail polish remover!  Back in December, I was contacted by Liz from Vi-Jon asking if I was interested in reviewing a new delivery system for removing Glitter Nail Polish.  If you haven't heard of Vi-Jon, they are the largest manufacturer of Private Label Personal Care, Health, & Hygiene  and they produce over 85% of all polish removers which are sold in the US.  That's a huge amount of remover, so odds are, the remover you're using is manufactured by them!

I said yes because I was very intriqued.  If you know me, you know I hate removing glitter polish.  I avoid it at all costs because I'm not a fan of the foil method.  I want to apply a remover and get the polish off right away.


This new delivery system which Vi-Jon has created is a gel solution instead of your normal liquid.  This solution contains essential oils which will sooth the nail instead of damaging it like harsh acetone.

Good morning polished world!  How are you all today?  It's been freezing here lately!  We had wind chills that made it feel like it was -20.  Mark my words though, in the summer time, I'm going to be complaining it's too hot and wishing for colder weather.  I need to start being grateful for each season and be happy that there aren't any horrible natural disasters.

Enough babbling about the weather, we're hear to talk about nails!  Today I am posting alongside Amanda of Fashion Footing!  This is Round 8 of our Bestie Twin Nail feature!  I can't believe we have been doing this for 8 months now!  So crazy!!!  Where did the time go!?

This month we were inspired by this Burberry plaid design by NailsByDanielleT on Instagram.  A few months ago, Amanda had said she wanted to do a plaid design, then I came across Danielle's gorgeous creation and we both quickly agreed on it!  We actually selected it in the beginning of December, so I've been very antsy to finally re-create the design on my own nails!

I went out, purchased a bottle of a dark berry cream, and got to work!  Let's take a look!




Colors Used:
  • OPI - In the Cable Carpool Lane
  • OPI - My Vampire is Buff
  • Acrylic White and Black
I'm so happy I found In the Cable Carpool Lane at Sally Beauty Supply!  It was the perfect berry cream polish for this manicure!  This polish was released as part of the San Francisco Collection and now is part of the core collection.  It is a gorgeous crelly that applies evenly in two coats.  I used three coats because on my one nail I had a bald spot and it was darker than the two coated nail, so I had to make that all even out.  Anywho, it is a gorgeous polish which I'm happy I now own.



For the design, I used black and white acrylics because they dry faster than polish.  I actually used an old black striper and dipped it in the acrylic paint to get the black lines.  Always remember to save your stripers after the polishes dry up!  There is always a use for them!  I used a nail art brush to create the line with In the Cable Carpool Lane.  Kind of messy, but you can't tell from a distance.

Pond Manicure

Twinsie Tuesday: Pond Manicure!

Hello everyone!  Today is Tuesday and that mean it's Twinsie Tuesday again!  Yes, that's right, we are back from our December break and ready for 2015.  Some of the ladies unfortunately are taking a little break from blogging, and will be back in the next few months.  Since a few were leaving, we decided it would be a good time to add some new members to our group!  I'm so happy that Amanda from Fashion Footing, Beckie from Polished by Beckie, and Savannah from Addictedd to Polish are now Twinsies!!!  

Today we are posting pond manicures!  This is my first time doing one and it's long overdue!  So many bloggers have created gorgeous designs using this technique and I've always wanted to re-create the look.  I purchased more jellies over the summer so I could eventually try, but I never got up the courage to  do so.

Honestly, I was thinking about skipping today's prompt because I was scared that I would have a huge disasticure, but I went for it!  I was going to follow Adventures in Acetone's tutorial for a heart pond manicure, until I was talking to Amanda and thought about doing a winter themed one!

Colors Used:
  • Sinful Colors - Bright Lucite
  • Sally Hansen - Ice Tint
  • White Acrylic
So, I kind of cheated.  I used one coat of Bright Lucite as a base so the design wasn't 100% sheer.  I'm not a huge fan of seeing my nail's smile lines through polish.  So, I started off with my base coat of Bright Lucite, then painted one snowflake on the corner's of my nails.  Then, I covered it with one coat of Ice Tint by Sally Hansen.  This is the blue sheer jelly from Sally Hansen's Palm Beach Jelly collection.

Then, when that was dry, I added some dots, followed by another coat of Ice Tint.  Then I added another snowflake, followed by another coat of the jelly.  More dots, more jelly, few more dots, then one more coat of the jelly.  I might have gone overboard, but honestly, I love how it was looking and couldn't stop!


I'm so happy I decided to do a winter design!  I love how the snowflakes looked under the different layers of jelly!  I was scared that it wasn't going to work out because of how sheer Ice Tint is, but thankfully it did!  I think it was because of that base of the cream that I put underneath!

Polar Bear Nail Art

Happy Saturday and Happy New Year!  I'm kind of  happy all the holidays are over for the next few months.  This whole having a Thursday off and then going back to work for one day really messes up my schedule.  Today feels like a Tuesday.  At least I got to sleep in and don't have to go to work, especially because I think the weather today is going to be freezing!

Since the weather has gotten so bitterly cold, it's the perfect time to post my polar bear manicure!  These nails were inspired by Adventures in Acetone!  Amanda from Fashion Footing sent me the design ages ago and I put it on the top of my to-do list.

I wasn't a fan of them when I first re-created the design, but after a day I fell in love.  Let's take a look!

It's been forever since I did a cute animal manicure!  Kind of missed having little critters on my nails!  I followed Adventures in Acetone's tutorial and started off with a base coat of a blue polish.  I used Capacity to See Beyond because it matched very well with the FingerPaints glitter.  When that was dry, I used the brush of My Boyfriend Scales Walls and created the little head.  With my dotting tool, I added the ears.  I then went through with my nail art brush and added the grey details, followed by the black ones.



The glitter polish is FingerPaints Ho Ho Happy Holidays from the Winter Wishes collection.  Now, if you know me, you know I hate removing glitter, so I rarely use it.  I used so much glitter in this manicure because I have a new gel glitter remover which I will be reviewing in the next few days on the blog, so stick around for that!

Anywho, this glitter polish is a silver and blue microglitter in a clear base.  In two coats you have full coverage, but I used three for extra sparkle and bling.  If you're going to use glitter, go big or go home.  Plus, it was really worth it in the end.  Look how sparkly!  And see how the blue flecks match Capacity to See Beyond!?
