The One With the Dry Brush Daisies
9:00:00 AMGood morning polished world! Happy Thursday to you all!! Yesterday I shared with you a swatch of the beautiful Do You Take Lei-Away? by OPI, and as promised, here is the nail art that I created on top of it!
A long while ago on Pinterest, I stumbled across this gorgeous daisy manicure by @lieve91 on Instagram. The dry brush base made it look the daisies were on canvas. I just loved them so much. I waned to re-create them but knew I would not be able to come anywhere close to the original. After months of procrastinating, I finally attempted them.
So let's take a look at my attempt at them!
Colors Used:
- OPI - Do You Take Lei-Away?
- Various Acrylics
So yesterday you saw my post about how much I love Do You Take Lei-Away? so I'm not going to go into detail here about it again other than it is one of the best nude bases for nail art! As soon as it was dry, I took a dark brown polish and did a dry brush design over it to give it that dirty canvas look. I then applied a quick dry top coat and hesitated for a good 20 minutes before I started the flowers.
I really had no idea about how I was going to accomplish such intricate looking flowers. I thought about putting white down first then adding the color over, but I just wasn't happy with the idea because I wasn't going to get the look I wanted. Then it hit me, blend the colors before adding them to the nail!
Side by side, I poured out a little colored acrylic and white. With my nail art brush, I swiped right down the middle where the two paints were touching, then swiped it on the nail. In the darker areas, I added a little more color. I guess you can say I did a one stroke sort of thing? Maybe? I don't know because I'm way too scared to ever try one stroke flowers. These things took a couple of different swipes across the nail and a few fixing pieces here or there once everything was dried.
When the flowers were done to my liking, I went through with a toothpick and added the black centers. Grabbed a fast dry top coat, and called it a day.
What do you think? Successful attempt at trying to re-create the manicure which inspired me? Something you think I should do again??
Well I have quite the busy day ahead of me so I am off! Until next time, <3.
