The One With the Easter Nail Art Wheel

Good morning polished world!  How are you all doing today?  Can you believe in just one week it will be Easter?  I kind of dislike when Easter and St. Patrick's Day fall so close to one another because everything seems so rushed.  Especially when you decide to do an Easter Nail Art wheel and have about two days to plan out, draw a rough draft, and create 18 different designs.

That's right, I decided to do a nail art wheel!  When I posted my St. Patrick's Day wheel on Instagram a few weeks ago, I realized how much I missed doing them.  So since my followers said they liked my past wheels and wanted to see another, I decided to take a jump and create one for Easter!

Designs either are my own, re-creations of things I've done on my own nails in the past, or were inspired by pins from my Easter Nail Art Idea Pinterest board.  Head on over to Pinterest if you want to see, because I'm not linking them all here.

Of course I have some favorites.  I really am liking the yellow Easter Peep candy!  After drawing out the peep using acrylic paints, I went over him using Sally Hansen Disco Ball.  The sparkle gave it the look of the sugar that is on the real peeps.  Without it, I really don't think he, or the purple Peep bunny, would look like peeps.

I absolutely love the crosses on Calvary nail which is to the left of the yellow peep.  It's always been important to me to represent the true meaning of the holidays in my nail art.  Easter is the most important holiday in the Christian faith, and if I didn't create a few designs representing Jesus and that He is risen, I wouldn't have been happy with myself.  I think I might do the cross manicure on my own nails.

Another nail on the wheel which I think some people might be confused by is the one to the left of the hatched chick and the right of the peeking bunny on the peach base.  This nail is the tomb of Christ with the stone rolled away.  I'm rather proud of how it turned out.  Sometimes you think of a nail design in your mind, then when you go to re-create it, it looks awful.  This was not the case.  If I were to re-create this design on my nail, I think I will try to create some light streaks coming out of the tomb....maybe?

To the right of the yellow Easter Peep, I'm super proud I was able to re-create this bunny butt design.  I tried it last year on my own nails and it didn't work whatsoever.  I was upset because I really liked this design but couldn't for the life of me figure it out.  Sarah from 25_SweetPea created a YouTube tutorial this year for this design, and after following it, I was able to re-create the design!  Now the question is, can I do it on my own nail?

And of course, another favorite is the jelly bean nail.  Just look how bright and cute it is!

Halloween

Halloween Nail Art Wheel

Hello there!  Hope you all are doing well today!  I meant to publish this post yesterday but was a bad blogger and didn't hit the Publish button.  So instead it sat as a saved draft forever waiting to be posted.  I'm mad at myself because I really wanted this wheel up as soon as possible so you all could get lots and lots of ideas for Halloween.  Well, there are still 13 days before Halloween so it totally works out.

I love creating nail art wheels!  So far I have done one for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day.  I planned on doing an Easter one but ran out of time, so when October came around, I was super excited to break out the wheels again and start creating!

Every time I create my designs, I first brainstorm them out on paper.  I draw 18 poor looking ovals, use one color pen and sketch out many different looks.  Sometimes I struggle to get 18, while other times it comes easily.  This time it came easily, and I had 19 designs so when one didn't work out, I had a quick substitute!

I think this is my favorite wheel so far!  Don't get me wrong, I love the other three, but something about this one stands out to me more than the others.  Maybe because I've grown as a nail artist and my lines are neater, or maybe because it's just so dang adorable.  Seriously, I'm the only person who can make a cute instead of scary Halloween nail art wheel.  I tried to make my vampire and Frankenstein look mad, but they still ended up looking kind of happy/adorable.


One of my favorite designs on the wheel is the haunted graveyard.  For this nail, I started off with a base coat of INM Brighella, then sponged the tip with a light grey polish.  I then added a coat of INM Northern Lights to give it that night time star look.  Then using my nail art brushes, I created the tree and the little grave yard.  I did this design last year on my actual nails and am hoping to attempt it again!  I'm very excited to see how I've grown in a years time!

As promised, I did create some tutorials for random designs on the nails.  The other day I posted the two jack-o-lanterns and already I'm getting a positive response and re-creations!  Thank you all for sharing those tutorials!  The others will be up randomly throughout the next two weeks!

I can't wait to re-create some of these designs on my own canvases, and hope to see some on yours!  As I said, I've already seen some re-creations, and I'm really loving it!  Please continue to share your designs either on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.  There still is that #tlcinspired hashtag on Instagram you can use also!

Nail Art Wheel

St. Patrick's Day Nail Art Wheel

Happy Friday Polished World!  How are you today?  Have you entered my Incoco Nail Polish Applique giveaway yet?  If you haven't, after you read this post, make sure to!

Since St. Patrick's Day is less than two weeks away and the blog is all decked out for the day, it is only appropriate to share my nail art wheel for the holiday!  After I created one for Valentine's Day, I had told myself I wasn't going to do a St. Patrick's Day themed one and was going to move on to planning an Easter wheel.  Well one night on Twitter, Kristin from The Manicured Monkey sent me a tweet asking if I was going to do one.  After we talked for a bit, I was inspired to create one and got to work!

I'm super proud of this wheel!  Many of the designs are my own, and I think 3 or 4 of them are inspired by other bloggers.  Two of the nails were inspired by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails.  The first of those two nails is the black one with the green clover in the middle.  It was inspired by her watercolor clover mani she did last year that was beyond amazing.  Her nails look so much better than what I did on the wheel.  The second nail inspired by Sarah is the black grunge looking one next to it.  I followed her distressed tutorial using green polishes, and well I went a little too heavy on the black.  Then to the left of that we have the leopard clover print nail which was inspired by iDreamOfLacquer, but I'll talk about that nail more in the rest of this post!

Nail Art Wheel

Valentines Day Nail Art Wheel

Hi polished world!  How are you this fine day?  Valentines Day is right around the corner *BLECH*  I really cannot tell you how much I hate this Hallmark holiday.  We should show our love and appreciation for those close to us 24/7 and not just on this day.

Since I did my Christmas Nail Art Wheel, I have been itching to create another one.  Originally, I was not going to do one for this stupid day, but some followers asked, and well I enjoy creating on the little wheels so I thought why not?  Plus, I thought it would force me to use my pink polishes which sit in the corner of my Melmer just wishing to be used.

Pardon the broken off nail on the top.  I hated a nail I did so I just broke it off.


I kind of took inspiration from many bloggers when it came to this wheel, mainly because, as I said, I hate Valentines Day.  I really couldn't get my creative juices flowing to be 110% original due to all that bubbling hate lol.  

Let's see, the patchwork heart and conversation heart nails were inspired by Polish Art Addiction.  The heart on the bottom next to the XOXO nail was inspired by a recent tutorial by One Nail to Rule Them All, except in hers she did little flowers, I opted for dots because it was easier.  The Zoya Pixie rose was inspired by my own manicure which was inspired by @miss_prettynails on Instagram.  Last year I did the leopard print with hidden hearts and graffitti heart design on  my own nails.  And last but not least, the little cute owl was slightly inspired by Chalkboard Nails Valentines owls she did awhile ago.  She did the little guys sitting on a branch, where I just did a whole owl on the nail like I have done in the past when I did owl manicures.  The rest, well they really are mish moshes of ideas from others that you can't really trace back to an original person.  Seriously, roses...that could come from anywhere so no yelling at me.

Christmas Nail Art Wheel!

Merry Christmas to all of my followers who celebrate!!!  Hope you all are having or have had a great holiday!!!

I am so excited to show you my Christmas Nail Art Wheel that I have been working on for the past couple of weeks!  As I mentioned earlier this month, I finally took the plunge and purchased a set of 10 wheels from Sally Beauty.  I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I have had creating this wheel and how I cannot wait to use my other 9!!

From holly, to figgy pudding, I think I covered all the different Christmas themes.  There are wayyyy too many colors to list what I did end up using.  As you can see, I did re-do some of the nails that I already have posted.  They were just so cute that I wanted to re-create them on a larger canvas to forever have!

While I love all of the designs, I am going to highlight two of them as being my favorite that I wish I had time to do on my nails for the actual holiday.

The first is the Christmas Sweater nail!


For this nail, I used Zoya in Livingston as a base, then Sinful Colors in Snow Me White for the white.  After I did two coats of Livingston, I taped four pieces of nail art tape across the nail.  With my nail art brush, in between each segment of tape, I created little pointed arches, then filled in the white from the arch down.  When I had this random star shape, I slowly removed the tape.  With a medium sized dotting tool, I added dots to the top and bottom of the nail, then to the middle of the design.  I don't think that I could have gotten this look on my little canvas, so I'm really happy I was able to do it on my nail art wheel since it is a design I always wanted to try.  Maybe I will have to grow my nails out to accomplish them on my own canvases next year!

The next nail I want to highlight is the snowy Christmas tree!


To get this look, I started off with a base coat of Sinful Colors - Snow Me White.  When that was dried, I created a gradient using Ulta - Blue Streak, Sally Hansen - Blue Away!, and Sinful Colors - Snow Me White.  I dabbed it on the nail wheel a couple of times and admired the pretty blue gradient.  I added a top coat of INM Northern Lights to make it look like a sparkly sky!  When it was dried, I added some white polish to the tip of the wheel to make it look like a snow scene.  With Zoya - Hunter and my nail art brush, I added the trees, a small one in the background, and a larger one in the foreground.  As Hunter was drying, I used a small dotting tool and added some snow flakes and the little stars on the top of the trees.  Then I went back through ad added the snow on the trees.  Now that I'm looking at this design, I'm kind of wishing I added some red dots to the trees to make them look like they had little lights or Christmas bulbs on them.  Hmmm, maybe I will re-do this design without the stars when it's really snowy!

 Tomorrow or the next day, I'll share with you my very simple manicure I did for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  I was rather upset that I hadn't used one of my Christmas glitters, so I took off my Santa's and painted something so pretty that I'm really loving!
