#JordWatch Review :)
9:00:00 AM
Hey everyone! How are you all doing today? I'm doing quite well, thank you very much! I have a different post for you all today! A few weeks ago I received a beautiful Jord Wooden Watch! That's right, a watch made out of wood! Isn't that cool?? If you know me, I'm not much into jewelry. I wear the same necklace, same earrings, and sometimes a ring if the mood strikes me right. I'm a creature of habit and I don't like to add anything that is out of the ordinary.
There was something about the uniqueness though of this wooden watch that drew me to it. When I was asked if I would review one, I couldn't bring myself to say no. It was a different piece that for sure was going to take me out of my daily jewelry comfort zone, and I was rather excited to try it!
The watch I will be sharing with you all today is the Ely in Maple. I grew up in a neighborhood where maple trees were left and right, so I thought it would be really neat to own a watch made out of maple!
Picture heavy post, so please click to read more!
I'm was expecting to receive the watch in a promo package or a small case, instead it was inside of this beautiful maple box. While I know that Jord probably makes dozen upon dozens of these boxes, to me it was one of a kind because all trees and wood have different grains. While it's maple, it's not going to look like the other maple boxes other watches come in.
The watch was very much protected. When I slid off the cover, I was greeted with a bunch of bubble wrap which was securing the watch in place. Once removed, I found the watch wrapped around a Jord pillow. Underneath the pillow were some extenders in case the watch didn't fit. When you order a watch from Jord, they provide you with fitting instructions with a little print out ruler so you can accurately measure your wrist. If I went with my gut and what the paper said, I would have had a perfectly fitting watch. Dumb me thought "hmm I bet this won't fit if I use this exact measurement, I should go a tad smaller." Bad idea, but oh well, it was easy to put the little extender in.
Time to get a close look at the watch! There is no denying that this watch is made out of 100% maple. It smells just like fresh cut maple. I'm a weirdo and like the smell of wood, so this was something I thought was cool and added to the uniqueness of the watch. I loved the grain, because just like the box, even though there are more of these watches out there, this one is one of a kind. The back is branded with the Jord logo, and on the back side of the face, there is another branding. I couldn't get a good quality photograph of it, so I do apologize.
The face is made out of a scratch resistant mineral. I'm kind of a noob and forgot to take the plastic screen protector off for the photos. I didn't realize it until way later that there even was one on there.
The details are all done in silver, which makes it easy to read on the wooden background. The Ely Series has a little date feature which I find super helpful because I never can remember the date. It's a pain always having to pull my phone out, I loved being able to just look at my wrist when I needed to know the time.
As you can see, I had fun taking pictures. I thought the watched looked super pretty against the pink flowers. I also have tiny wrists, so this is a great comparison shot when it comes to size in my opinion. Most watches make my wrist look like a chicken leg and just look all around awkward. This one is a perfect size. Not too big, not too small, just right.
Now, here's the most important part for me....it goes great with any manicure!!! I tend to coordinate my outfits with my manicures. Then from there, I have different necklaces which match those outfits. If I am going to wear a watch piece such as this one, I want it to be neutral and still make a statement but not take away from the nails/outfit. Just a little something that adds to the whole look. Since it is a neutral wood, the maple really goes with everything. You can have neons, neutrals, and even vampy polishes which would look great with this. I think I loved pairing it with the neons and the mint above the most.
And last but not least, one more shot where you can see the size of the watch. I told you it doesn't look obnoxious on my chicken wrists!!
What do you think? Are you a fan of watches? Is this something you would ever wear?
Jord Wooden Watches can be purchased from their website. The Ely Series is $129. The Cora is gorgeous and I definitely have my eye on it. It has a gorgeous colored face...ugh I want. You can see below in the widget the different watches they offer.
