The One Inspired by a City for Twinsie Tuesday
9:00:00 AMGood morning polished world! How are you all doing today?? I'm doing fantastic! It's Tuesday which means it is time for another Twinsie Tuesday. This week our prompt is "Inspired by a City", which kind of ended up being rather difficult for me. I feel like the internet is a big bad place, so I don't like to share where I'm specifically located. So using my home town was out of the question.
Since St. Patrick's Day is coming up, I started to google and see if any cities had shamrock themes or Shamrock for a name. Couldn't find much other than a small town in Texas off of Route 66. I was going to do that but I really wasn't feeling it.
I then realized that many towns, cities, and states have a flower which represents them. I thought about daisies, tulips, and even carnations, but I really couldn't find much. Then it hit me, roses! I love doing rose nail art, hardly do it, and well there are dozens of cities in the United States which are known as The City of Roses or Rose City.
So here today is my rose manicure inspired by a City of Roses - Pasedena. Not going to lie, I was kind of hoping New Orleans had a rose nick name so I could combine it with the fact my manicure was done using polishes from the New Orleans collection. Now that I'm typing this, I could have probably just done a New Orleans inspired manicure...using New Orleans inspired polishes.....just dots for beads or something. Whatever....here's the roses.
Colors Used:
- OPI - Crawfishin' for a Compliment
- OPI - I'm Soooo Swamped
- OPI - My Vampire is Buff
I wasn't going to get Crawfishin' for a Compliment, but then I got a coupon from Sally for $5 off $25 and well this polish ended up being free. It is a light creamy orange perfect for Spring-time. Formula was a little wonky. It took three coats for me to get full coverage no matter how heavy or light I went. Two coats it was just too patchy. Not awful, it just needed a little bit of patience.
Similar to My Vampire is Buff. Three coats for that beauty as well. It's one of my favorite nudes that frustrates me every single time I use it, but I still go back to it. It's just a perfect shade.
When my base was dried, I went through and added my tiny little roses. I've never done roses this small ,so I was kind of scared that they weren't going to work. At first they looked like berries, but when I started adding the details with my little nail art brush, it came together.
What do you think? Fan of this look? Don't you just love the color of Crawfishin for a Compliment?
Seriously, despite the pain in the butt formula, I think everyone needs a shade like Crawfishin' in their collection. It's such a refreshing color. I can see myself using it a lot in the next few months. Plus, it's bright and kinda sunny like Pasadena, so it works for today's Rose City manicure.
Don't forget to check out the other Twinsies.
